Jewel was impounded on July 7, 2026; and Stephanie, Nevada County Animal Control Supervisor, says she can be released to her home as soon as Thurs., July 9, 2026.
Note that Stephanie expects that Christine will not be able to comply with requirements for Jewel to be released before Aug. 2, 2026. But depending upon how soon Christine is able to comply, Jewel could be home as soon as Thurs. July 9.
In memory of Cutie whose mom’s mission is that no other dog suffer Cutie’s painful death, so that Cutie will not have died in vain.

Jewel was impounded on Tues., July 7; and Stephanie, Nevada County Animal Control Supervisor, says Jewel can be released to her home from the McCourtney shelter as soon as Thurs., July 9, 2026.
Note: Stephanie expects that Christine will not be able to fulfill requirements for Jewel to be released before Aug. 2, 2026.
But depending upon how soon Christine can comply, Jewel could be home as soon as Thurs. July 9. I hope to be able to update this page every day, so that neighbors can plan their walks.
This page is dedicated to the memory of my Cutie Pie. My goal is that no other dog experience an injury or painful death by Jewel—so that Cutie will not have died in vain. –Judi (Cutie’s Mom). (I might leave contact info or figure out a way to read replies.)
